Innovative Denver finished basement Ideas.

Denver Basement Finishing - Integrity.

Here’s a great Denver basement topic:

When a new basement finish begins, one of the things lots of people ask is “what is the latest idea for basement finishing in Denver?”. There are several answers to this one. Lets talk for a moment about the most innovative basement ideas and how they can fit in your imagined basement design. Remembering to start with the end in mind, lets begin this section on the subject of Framing.

Framing options: Going Green here is fairly easy to do since one of the most sustainable materials we can use is wood. Pine forests that are well managed offer us unending supplies of a green material and also one that has great insulating properties. That is why our forefathers built Log homes on the prairies. They work. Here’s a great article about the subject that we recommend if you would like to learn more about it.

Finger joined wood framing offers a newer way to build your basement and helps our earth by utilizing what would otherwise be scrap materials. The idea for this newer framing technology is to use short, but solid pieces of framing lumber that cannot be used in a longer/larger form due to things like cracks/splits, or knot holes that are too large. Simply put, the good parts are cut out and kept, then by processes of molding the ends, reassembled into studs that usually have less tendency to warp and twist (they can do this, but are generally accepted to be more stable in this regard).

Another option is use of steel stud construction. Although not as earth friendly initially, it offers some later advantages, one of which is they can be recycled at the end of a homes lifetime. Steel studs are very stable and make for straight walls. A possible downside to use of steel studs is the noise they carry and transmit. Perhaps not a major consideration for most, it can be a later annoyance when your kids have the theatre volume a tad loud. Easily used and easy to find when hanging your favorite art, steel studs have a few good things on their side.

Timberstrand is a growing (forgive the pun) part of the wood materials market. Offering use (in some cases) of recycled materials. Making the framing good is the point of this product, albeit a more costly option for most project uses. It is a very dense product making it ideal for sound retention and easy to find when you are look for the place to place your art. It makes walls very straight, even more so than with steel as there are no screw head bumps in the drywall. It is a very heavy product, making it great for slowing the spread of fire in the case of a burning basement. We would all like a “hot” basement, but not too much so.
